Default Most Versatile Necromancer Secondary?

I was hoping to get some suggestions as to the most versatile PvP secondary for Necromancers? (Since I want to try a little PvP soon )

Maybe versatility is not necessary, but I have noticed that W/Ms can build themselves for PvE (healer/fighter type), and PvP as a sword damage dealer or Hammer knockdown specialist, etc.

Is there a particularly versatile one for Necromancers? I was thinking of trying N/Ele.

Thank you!

Default Necro Secondary

I have a Necro/Mesmer and find that I can handle just about ANY situation with a little attribute point adjustment. Currently I am only bringing Backfire from my Mesmer line with about 3 points into Domination. That is my main anti caster spell. It will either totally shut down a healer or kill it very quickly as Backfire is doing about 50 points of damage every time they cast a spell.

I am mainly Blood specced, but I have a few points into curses for anti-warrior hexes.

I like to start combat with Dark Pact (Sacrifice 10% maximum health and deal 10-40 shadow damage to target foe.) and follow up with Shadow Strike (Target foe takes 12-41 shadow damage. If that foe's health is above 50%, you steal 12-41 health) which totally heals me back up. Then I will spam Dark Pact a couple more times before casting Parasitic Bond (For 20 seconds, target foe suffers -1 Health regeneration. You are healed for 30-102 Health when Parasitic Bond ends.) before the mob/player dies. The Parasitic Bond hex expires when they do giving me a very nice cheap heal bringing my almost back to 100% health.

Those spells are also pretty cheap to cast power wise, and with 5 points into Soulreaping, I gain power back almost as fast as I use it up.

The Ele is a good compliment because its damage spells can start the corpses in PvE, but for PvP it is hard to overlook either a Mo or Mes. If you want disruption/support, the Mes brings some great spells to the table.

Personally if building a PvP template, look at necro as a secondary even though you may be pulling most of your skills from necro. Soul Reaping in PvP has a serious disadvantage since something has to die before you can make it work for you. If you go Ele/N, you get energy storage which could easily give you 30 more energy at the start of a fight and Aura of Restoration or Ether Renewal. A Me/N build would allow you to rip out necro spells faster and while I haven't used Mantra Recovery on paper it reads like a powerful skill depending on the build.

I have a N/Me also. Works very well together it seems.

I can stand t2t with a warrior with specced Blood Magic and some messer to assist. Granted i havnt fought anything but W/Mo lately, so Backfire is usually there along with my main blood spells. It's not a sure thing, but I win more than lose lately. Guess I'm getting better with him.

Yeah, as stated before. Monk or Mesmer is the way to go. I just really like being able to heal myself and not depend on others, so I got the monk side of it. I do however have a mes/ran and that is my make people frustrated build.

I personally love the Necro/Ranger build. Groups have been blown away during PvE for this build and while I haven't had the chance to go PvP yet I think it will be just as good. The Ranger pet is great and bow skills are a nice plus up as well as some of the Ranger healing powers (Troll Unguent and Healing Spring help alot. You can also stack a Healing Spring with a Well of Blood if not mistaken which is nice during combat.

Right now im specced Nec/Me and I love him. Im using curses/domination for my build and granted I have no real way to heal myself, this is a great build that I am enjoying alot. My guy right now is basically built anti-melee/anti-caster. I have empathy(deals damage everytime they attack) and Faintheartedness(slow spell with health degen) and "forgot the name of skill"(makes the melee miss 25% of the time and deals damage for every miss) for melees, and backfire(deals damage every cast) power spike(interupts spells and deals damage) for casters. When there are big groups of enemies all close together I use Mark of Pain(deals damage AoE when getting attacked), and for my Nuke I use "forgot name"(drains 8 energy and deals 8 damage for every point drained). I recently got grenth's balance which is a very nice spell also and can be used as a heal if you get low on health and have a mob with more health than you.

I know this is kinda wordy and im sorry, but overall im really enjoying this guy and ive been level 20 with this build for quite some time now.
